With news of Ed Miliband and Justine Thornton’s low key engagement and wedding and Prince William and Kate Middleton’s quiet stag and hen do’s Radio Newcastle called Last Night of Freedom to ask our opinion on the current trends in the industry.
So Sales Manager Garry Hodgson went down to BBC Newcastle Radio to talk about whether he thinks stags and hens will be following in Prince William and Kate Middletons footsteps and having low key last nights of freedom.
When asked by John Harle if he was worried brides may start going for the 'Kate Middleton style' hen do and stay at home rather than having a night out? Garry replied ‘No hens love to have a hen night away and plus they don’t all have paparazzi after them like Kate.
John Harle then went on to ask if Garry thought hen nights very getting a bit over the top with them not only having a night out but a meal, trip to the spa and other activities. Rightly so Garry answered you only get one last night of freedom so you may as well celebrate it in style and have as much fun as possible.
Garry told John about the more popular hen party destinations ‘ London is definitely one of the most popular locations for the hens to visit. In London they can enjoy a meal, take in a show and then have a few drinks – They are not all the crazy affairs you may think.
'But there are getting more elaborate aren’t they?' asked John, 'a night down at the local pub is a thing of the past.'
‘Yes they are, weddings are getting bigger and with the stag and hen parties, everyone wants to celebrate as much as possible’ answered Garry.
‘These large hen parties obviously cost a great deal do you think some hens resent spending several hundred pounds on a weekend away in London!’
Garry answered ‘With some people money is an issue but at Last Night of Freedom we can tailor make weekends to suit all kinds of budgets. We do cater for smaller budgets and offer a wide variety of games and tasks for those wanting to stay at home including our popular game pin the macho on the man. Hen parties are so successful because the brides want to get all her different groups of friends to meet each other before the big day. It’s a once in a life time experience and people want to celebrate that and do find the money to do so.‘
So do you think hens will start following Kate’s choice and have a night in? ‘No if you look on the streets of Newcastle in the next few weeks you are guaranteed to see many hens on the streets having fun! ‘ Well said Garry!
