The May Bank Holiday weekend saw Cockermouth wedding bells chiming as our very own suave South African Mr Sean Palmer tied the knot with his beloved Philippa. On a beautiful afternoon in Cumbria.
An international gathering of guests clinked their glasses in unison as Seany Boy & Phil vied for the title of Most Gorgeous Wedded Person Of The Day (she won... but only just).
Folk had flown from as far afield as Sydney, Johannesburg, New Zealand and Swansea to be in attendance, and certainly the weather, the speeches, the food and the alcohol played their part in a glorious knees-up that Cumbrians will be talking about for years to come... not to mention the fact that the nearby Globe Hotel reported record takings behind the bar with not a single room unoccupied.
Amidst the celebrations a special mention must go out to Philippa's brother Matt for an emotive reading of the lyrics to Huey Lewis's The Power of Love. Seldom have tears rolled down my face as they did at that moment!
Raise a glass, ladies and gents, as we toast Mr & Mrs Palmer... the spawny get, how did he manage that??!!
