Planning the Stag Weekend
An indespensible guide to any best man planning a stag night...and yes...it is
your responsibility!
Best Men and Worst Men
The team at LNOF can testify to two very distinct types of Best Man when it
comes to influencing the stag weekend...:
1st Type
"I'm the Best Man and I want to sort out a stag weekend well in advance. I am
organised, reliable and keen to get the very best experience for the
groom-to-be."
2nd Type
"I'm the Stag and...yes, that's right, it should be the Best Man. But he's
hopeless and has left everything to the last minute... Have you got anything
for 20 guys in Brighton next Friday? You haven't? What about Bournemouth?
You're fully booked everywhere?! Wait until I get my hands on that useless,
unreliable...(expletives to fade)"
Did you know: We can help you arrange your stag weekend.
Our dedicated staff are here to ease your suffering!
Planning the stag weekend is the best man's job!
Now, we aren't suggesting that you have to become a goody-two-shoes,
obsessive-compulsive Drill Seargant to get the job done. What we are saying is
that you need to take the bull (or stag) by the horns very early on and
approach this easily-underestimated task with careful planning, consistency and
no little effort.
The stag weekend is a big part of the Best Man's duties and influence. Get it
right and you've not only eased the nerves of the main man in the run up to the
ceremony by giving him a first-class send-off to single life, you've had
yourself a wicked time which will forever be associated with you by all who
attended... What a hero!!! On the other hand, if you leave things to others and
approach it as a chore from day one, it will get right up the stag's nose - as
if he hasn't got enough to do already! - and pile on the pressure for your
other duties come the wedding day itself.
Novelties
As best man it's your duty to buy as much stag night novelty tat as you can. Now if only there was a top ten list or something to help you in your purchasing decisions:

If you want to arrange a good stag weekend, it takes some planning!
As early as you can, and preferrably at least 6 months before he intends to go
crackers with the lads, sit down with the stag over a cold one and get out a
pen and some paper. Find out who he wants there (and who he doesn't), what sort
of location he thinks he might like and what types of events or activities he
really fancies doing. From this session...the basis for one of the best
weekends either of you will ever have is born!
Remember, the more people that are involved in the organising, the more chance
there actually is of things being forgotten about or missed off altogether.
When has a committee been anything other than bad news, regardless of the
context? There's nothing wrong with taking advice and suggestions from one or
two of the guests, say for example when it comes to booking the stripper,
juggler, magician or trampolining dwarves as a surprise addition behind the
stag's back, but the onus is on you, big man. It's your call and it's your gig,
no matter what distractions or problems may appear during that laughably quick
6 months between the sit-down and the all-male main event.
And when it comes to being on the stag weekend itself, don't let your standards
drop. Extra touches and ideas, such as beer kittys, impromptu outdoor sprays of
bubbly and running gags, are what turns a passable occasion into a terrific
one, so do your homework before you get there and you'll be bursting with pride
at the sight of the stag and his guests with permanent smiles etched on their
gormless faces!
