The Groom's Guide to Planning a Stag Weekend
If your best man is rubbish, this guide will help you plan your stag weekend to
complete success.
Reasons for knowing the score
There are two very good reasons to check out the stag weekend options yourself,
whilst officially leaving it all to the Best Man..
Bad Reason
Your Best Man has proved himself a complete failure and you have to step in and
salvage your own stag weekend with only a couple of months to spare. (This is a
very common reason in our experience).
Very Bad Reason
Your mates are a demonically-minded bunch of barstewards and you know that a
major wind-up is on the cards. At least if you know a bit of the background...
actually, it won't help you one bit really. Tough!
Did you know: We have arranged over 5000 stag weekends in the last 8 years.
Bring It On, Fellas!
The simple fact is that you have to have a stag weekend if you're going to get
married. You have to have a stag weekend and you have to prepare to take
whatever medicine is thrown your way by the collection of overgrown adolescents
that go to make up your own unique Bachelor Party. The task of putting together
this high-energy celebration of testosterone is mainly considered to be the
Best Man's, however it is customary for the groom to be in at the conception
stage if nothing else (a bit like fatherhood).
You don't want to be kept totally in the dark about where you're going, so an
early sit-down chat over a pint or two with the key players would be advisable
- You may never get a say in any aspect of this weekend again! This is an early
test of the Best Man's metal, and a good indication of how suitable he is for
the role. You may very quickly find yourself electing someone else to oversee
the Stag Duties, due to inactivity or general uselessness on the Best Man's
part. Worse still, you may end up doing it yourself!

You've Got To Roll With It
Of course, if you're a really good sport, then maybe the Not Knowing A Thing
approach will add extra excitement as the weekend comes near! It will probably
be that you head off to God Know's Where around 3 or 4 weeks before the wedding
day, giving you perfect respite from the serious details that may have
preoccupied your mind for the previous few months, and in this respect the
better organised and more secretive the arrangements, the more happy a groom
you will appear when you're stood at the front of the church later on.
Presuming you have your eyebrows intact, which brings us to the biggest worry
that every husband-to-be has:
"What the hell are they going to do to me?!"
Be A Dignified Victim
It doesn't matter how much you look for clues, beg for lenience or drop false
declarations such as "Just remember I can't swim" or "I'm allergic to tattoo
ink", they're going to get you at some point and you just better hope it's
quick. With that in mind, here's a little tip for anyone fearing the worst. If
you play any regular sports, just bandage up a credit card around the top of
your leg, saying that it's an injury you've recently picked up. Then, no matter
where they send you, and no matter where you wake up, you'll have the means to
fund yourself a return trip.. as well as some replacement clothes!
Most women are great sports over the need for their man to have a rip-roaring
stag experience - after all, they'll be living it up in Spain or Brighton with
their own mates at some point - but, just to kill the possibility of any
unwanted stripper tales getting back to the lovenest, it's usually best to put
a No Photos, Stories or Videos ban on things before a ball has been kicked.
Take it from us, the idea of recording various lewd events might seem brilliant
after a bottle of Jack Daniels, but it will soon return to bite you in the
scrotum when you least expect it. And you will only have yourself to blame if
you failed to take evasive action early on.
Stag Gallery.. That said, these are the kind of visual keepsakes that we always
welcome at LNOF!
But the stag weekend is a fantastic ritual when done properly, and a major
highlight on the road to married life. Just don't tell the Mrs that!
