Steeped in history, sun-kissed Lisbon is a fascinating and gorgeously chic choice for your hen weekend. Portugal’s characterful capital has a bacchanalia of iconic landmarks – including the world-famous Mosteiro dos Jerónimos and Pastéis de Belém, the place to pick up some delicious custard tarts (the national dessert, FYI) – as well as super swanky and mysterious bars, tucked behind vaulted doors in the cute cobbled streets.
Lisbon’s nightlife is illustrious, with an abundance of glamorous bars set against a backdrop of intricately tiled and colourful buildings. Bairro Alto and Principal Real are the places to see and be seen in. These areas are the liveliest districts in Lisbon, with everything from wine bars, jazz clubs and electro venues.
We did the pole dancing class in Lisbon which was so much fun, then we got a private yacht and had drinks on the deck. The whole day was excellent.

Alfama, Lisbon’s oldest quarter, is a firm favourite for tourists. Alfama retains the traditional beauty of Lisbon - with beautiful and authentic eateries spilling out into the warren of quaint alleyways, women gathering on their balconies to speak to others living across the street and old-school trams rumbling along the breathtaking streets. Alfama also plays host to the biggest celebration this side of the Mediterranean - the legendary Feast of St Anthony festival. In June, thousands upon thousands head to Lisbon and celebrate Anthony by cooking Sardines (he was a big fan), wearing Sardine hats and drinking and dancing under the stars.
From the wonderfully lively Cascais beach and town to a spot that was once used for that opening sequence of James Bond On Her Majesty’s Secret Service; this city is surrounded by golden beaches. Lisbon is also very much a shopper’s paradise, with outlet stores and independent boutiques nestled in the bustling heart of the capital. This place really is a hen do haven.
