How To Get To Oxford

Travelling to Oxford

Welcome to the beautiful university city of Oxford, North-West of London and in the South of England. It is reached by road and rail, whilst the nearest airports to it are Heathrow and Luton.

  • By train, it’s 1hr to travel from London, 2hrs 20mins from Sheffield, 1hr 10mins from Birmingham and 5hrs 30mins from Edinburgh.
  • By road, take the A40/M40 from London, the M40 from Birmingham, the M4 to A34 from Bristol and the M1 to A43 to M40 if you’re driving from the East.
  • For those preferring to fly, London Heathrow (LHR) offers at least as quick a rail link to Oxford as Luton (LTN) does, though both have plenty of scheduled flights to choose from. It takes around 1hr 30mins on the airport rail link from Heathrow, compared to 1hr 45mins from Luton, though both may involve a change.
