Be There with Bells On
There is nothing rude or shameful about Morris dancing – I think we can all agree on that. However, it’s embarrassing all the same – largely from the
intricacy and detail that has gone into this costume. It’s overwhelming. You get a white top and trousers, silken handkerchiefs, two sensual green and red sashes, a straw hat and a thousand decorative ribbons and bells – adding a certain ‘je ne sais quoi’ to this majestic get-up.
Why go for the usual ‘can I buy you a drink?’ line to chat-up a she-woman? Have you never tried to seduce a woman with an alluring Morris dance? It has a 68.9% success rate – so we can’t guarantee it will work, but you still have quite a good chance.
Whilst many opt just to dress the stag as a Morris dancer, we enjoy seeing the entire stag group dressed as this traditional dance performer – seeing ten
drunken Morris dancers is an intense and powerful experience.
Be there - with bells on.
