Montechoro’s Flying Circus
The noisiest parts of Albufeira’s famous nightlife tend to be in two distinct places: firstly, in and around a district 2 miles east of the resort’s Old Town, Montechoro, where you can make the most of the majestic Portuguese weather by taking an ambiling 10-minute walk up from Oura Beach along the booming main strip of bars, clubs, holiday-oriented shops and restaurants, noting the number of rather attractive young ladies that congregate in said establishments as you go. Secondly, situated in Albufeira’s Old Town itself, is the club-happy Rua Dos Bares, where more-than-decent DJs give the area more of a dance vibe to offset the happy hour/ disco bar feel of Montechoro.
There are Irish theme pubs and even the odd British-themed Black Bull boozer, as well as many venues that smack of local fare and south European flair combined. Though Albufeira is hardly on a parallel with Ibiza when it comes to platinum clubbing, this jewel of the Algarve is arguably more perfect for stag nights with its mix of the cheesy and the chic… not to mention the fact that its particular prices won’t stop your heart when the bar bill arrives. Five beaches and a host of bikinis compete for your attention by day, whilst The Strip and Rua Dos Bares vie for your nightly shenanigans. So Faro… so good.
