Stag weekends don't come much bigger than Barcelona, so much so that your primary mission, should you accept it, will be physically keeping all the boys together – not easy considering that eyes, ears and noses will be tempted from every direction the moment you touch down on that runway.

Catalan’s carnival of creativity offers entertainment as diverse as the mind-altering Dali museum, fiery flamenco, tasty tapas, brilliant beaches, the yachts and bars of Port Olympic, the shops and cafes of La Rambla, stunning architecture at every turn, Gracia’s scintillating nightlife, the football, the bullrings, the Cava, the sangria, and even those human "castles" that stack up to dizzying heights and spectacular amusement during a summer festival (or simply when 200 random nutters become bored). Don’t even think about the 12 of you trying to replicate such a tower either, no matter how good an idea it seems at the time on your way home from a club!

In such an eclectic stag weekend location, each bar, inn and taverna has its very own vibe. Some are wood-panelled wine cellars with a slow-paced local feel, and some are bright, sleek establishments favoured by students and tourists. Virtually all of them hit their liveliest peak around 11pm, and don't tend to shut until 3am, especially at weekends. La Rambla, being the busiest and most central of all Barcelona's streets, houses just as much tat as it does quality, so don't settle for the one area while you're there.

Take in a spot of live entertainment if you can (there’s plenty of it around, don’t worry), make time to check a few of the sights, sample some of the Cava, eat well and eat late… and be careful how much you drink during daylight hours, since the clubs in this city don’t even think about closing until the sun is up and about. To get the most out of your Barcelona stag weekend, we advise a hearty late meal, pacing your drinks, pre-planning your route... and being prepared for legions of fabulous movers on every dancefloor you go to.
