How To Get To Cambridge

Travelling to Cambridge

The city of Cambridge lies in the south-east of England – in the county of Cambridgeshire, strangely enough – and is around 1hr 30mins drive (north-east) of London. It is connected by both road and rail, and, though its airport does not currently host any UK or Ireland connections, London Stansted is only a short distance away.

  • By train, it takes around 1hr 15mins to get to Cambridge from London, 3hrs 45mins (with at least 1 change) from Manchester or 4hrs 45mins (with at least 1 change) from Edinburgh.
  • Getting to Cambridge by road is very straightforward. From London you take the M11, from Norwich you take the A11, from Birmingham it’s the A14 and from the north it’s the A1 to the A14.
  • London Stansted (STN) is an international airport with frequent connections to and from all of the main UK and Irish airports. The rail link to Cambridge from Stansted is 30mins.
