Travelling to Cork

In the South-West corner of Ireland, on the River Lee, lies the Republic’s second largest city, Cork. It is reachable by road and rail if you’re travelling within mainland Ireland or if you’re going from the North, whilst its busy airport has an increasing number of flight options from all over the UK and the rest of Ireland.

  • By rail, you should expect journey times of approximately 7hrs from Belfast (2 changes), 2hrs 40mins from Dublin, 5hrs 30mins from Galway (1 change) and 3hrs 40mins from Waterford (1 change).
  • For those travelling by road within the Irish mainland, the major roads that service Cork are the N22 (Killarney), N20 (Limerick), N8 (Kilkenny/Dublin) and the N25 (Waterford).
  • By air, Cork (ORK) takes flights via, amongst others,  from Dublin, Liverpool, Gatwick or Stansted, Jersey, Southampton, Newquay, Edinburgh, Dublin, Galway, Belfast, Bristol or Cardiff.
