Travelling to Sheffield

In what is virtually the centre of mainland UK lies the city of Sheffield, West Yorkshire. It is easy to get to by road, rail and air – the nearest airports are Leeds-Bradford and Doncaster-Sheffield.

By train, you need to allow 2hrs 20mins if travelling from London, 2hrs 45mins from Bristol, 4hrs 40mins from Glasgow (with 1 change) or 1hr from Manchester.
By road, it’s the M1 that you head for if coming from anywhere on the East side of the UK or the Midlands. Take the A57 if you’re driving from Manchester.
Leeds-Bradford (LBA) is the closest major airport, and this handles lots of national and international traffic. The rail link from there to Sheffield is around 30mins. Alternatively, check out the options flying into Robin Hood, Doncaster-Sheffield Airport (DSA).
