Take on the challenge of the infamous Green Fairy. Absinthe is world-famous, but we can't be sure of its precise origins. La Fee Verte – the affectionate French nickname for Absinthe – can be traced all the way back to the 19th century; some have even attempted to link it to ancient Egypt, but we may never know…
According to legend, this strong, green liquor will send you loopy, with extreme and exhilarating hallucinations – you've got to be brave to get through this bar crawl. Our lovely, English-speaking guide will take/carry you to a minimum of three lively bars, and you'll have two absinthe drinks each, as well as a soft drink to get you through the rest of the night.
Absinthe has an insanely powerful kick-back, mostly due to its impressive alcohol content – between 45% and 75% volume – but there’s a certain ceremony to drinking the shot. Absinthe is served in a special glass with sugar dissolved into it over a perforated spoon, and it is often mixed with water to give it a not at all alluring, opaque, green look. We'll see if you remember that the next morning.
