People from all over the world flock to Bettys to enjoy their famous afternoon tea.
Established in 1919, Bettys sure knows a thing or two about the quintessentially English tradition of afternoon tea. Upon stepping into Bettys, you’ll feel as if you’ve been transported back in time – with staff wearing traditional waitress or waiter outfits and delicate, dainty foods being served.
A few years after Bettys opened its York doors, the war broke out – and Bettys Basement Bar subsequently became a favourite haunt of thousands of airmen stationed in the city. Many of their signatures are engraved on Bettys Mirror – a must see upon visiting. Located in central York, this is the perfect little spot to take a break from shopping and indulge in a fine selection of scones and preserves, elegant cakes, delicious sandwiches and, of course, a gorgeous blend of teas.
