We presume you’ve already heard about the glorious Camden Town district, and the sparkling reputation which precedes it – and, you’ll not be surprised to discover that it attracts tens of thousands of thrill seekers each year. With charm and cocktails aplenty, Camden is the perfect place to chill out with the girls, and get some serious celebrating done.
Shaka Zulu, London’s largest South African bar and restaurant, is without doubt a wonderful place to start any North London night - boasting a restaurant, lounge bar and king’s club. Set in a whopping 27,000 square foot plot in Camden’s Stables Market, the spectacular two floor venue has live music - as well as a sumptuous champagne bar and cocktail lounge overlooking the stunning braai restaurant. The fascinating African inspired decor and fabulous cocktails – not forgetting their generous happy hour – is not one to be missed. The luxurious Lockside Camden is another London favourite. Drawing in a trendy crowd from across the city, the elongated canalside bar boasts live DJ sessions, as well as plush interiors and even spacious outdoor seating overlooking the market.
Angel and Islington
A short tube journey from Camden, we arrive at the hipster Angel and Islington districts. These areas are one of London’s most popular drinking spots, due to the sheer volume of quality, chic bars and pubs. The strip between the two tube stations is a hen do paradise – filled with quirky cocktail bars and edgy clubs acting as the perfect backdrop to your celebrations.
The dark, Dickensien bar, The Four Sisters is a great place to kick start your celebrations. The high ceilinged former brothel is filled with cosy corners, mood lighting and is a little slice of old-school glamour just off Upper Street in Islington. The cocktails that this classy bar rustles up are out of this world. From the refreshing Elderflower Julep, to the glamorous Mezal Cup, to the famous Moon Under Water - celebrate the building’s saucy past with a classy cocktail or two.
The Barrio Angel; influenced by urban art and music from some of the world’s biggest cities, is all about celebrating street culture. You’ll be spoilt for choice with the expansive cocktail menu, and super happy hour offers, including £5 cocktails ‘til 8pm Sunday-Thursday, and ‘til 7pm on Fridays and Saturdays. The retro, vintage glam interiors really need to be experienced to be believed – there’s even a plush booth fashioned out of half of a 1970s caravan. How fancy.
