Stag Night Themes And Party Ideas
A theme for your stag night, but which one to choose?
So you're thinking of incorporating a theme in to your stag night? Great choice.
Choosing a theme means a lot of fun, both for you AND every grinning onlooker you meet throughout the evening (presumably you won't be picking something that will enrage the locals, e.g. a Moose theme in Toronto or an Orangemen theme in Belfast). You'll get attention from all the women, and you'll be able to find all of your mates anywhere, no matter how big the bar. However, there a few things that you might like to bare in mind. For example, check with your nightclub beforehand to make sure that they'll be okay with admitting 10 Greek Gods. There are plenty of clubs who won't, and the chances of the Stag Night Costumes appealing to a doorman's "sense of humour" are remote in the extreme. Also, if you're hiring costumes then it'd be wise to take insurance, because you're very likely to cover your togas with all mannner of untreatable liquids and substances by the time they're due back at the Roman Baths. And remember, any loose item of clothing, such as hats, scarves and thongs, don't just stand a chance of being ripped of by the crowd - they will get ripped off by the crowd.
With this in mind, here are a few stag night themes that we here at Last Night of Freedom recommend:
The James Bond Theme
The classic, James Bond 007 - an easy theme to pull off. Just hire a DJ, stand there looking sophisticated and say things like "Shay, Mish Moneypenny" and "A Vodka Martini, shaken not shtirred" a lot and watch the response from far and wide. This theme also has the advantage of conforming to even the strictest of dress codes, though if there DO happen to be any KGB double agents on the nightclub premises, LNOF cannot be held responsible for any confusion or resultant bloodshed that this theme may cause...
Gladiator Theme
"Are you not entertained?! ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?!" Just be careful where you place your sword, and of course take the advice that Mother Maximus used to give her little Russ - Wear clean grundies, or your mate Col will see'um! (groanus). Click for Costume.
Toga Party Theme
Looks great if you've got the body of Adonis but even better if you haven't. Plus, it's really cheap - just grab your bed sheets (clean ones preferably), sandals (or flip flops) and fashion a crown out of some leaves / wire, and your half way to Mt Olympus.. (Just make sure that "Olympus" isn't the name of some random female you cop off with at closing time!) Click for Costume.
Cowboy Theme
Another easy theme to manage. Just grab your old Levis, checked shirt and any spare Cowboy hat you might have lying about the house (what do you mean you don't have one?!) then "Hi Ho Silver away!" (This is not terminology for "I'm a bit short for my round, lads.") Remember to keep tight hold of your hat though, because if that goes missing you'll look like the sad git who went down the pub in his grotty jeans and manky shirt!
There are many themes to choose from, so why not have a brain storming session before you go - preferrably over a few pints. You'll be surprised by how many ideas you come up with, though do not go as The Village People, no matter how funny it seems when you're planning it (pissed). You just might end up in the wrong part of town, and then who'll be laughing?! Click for Costume.
