Considering it is home to the National Railway Museum, it shouldn’t be surprising the city’s railway connections are second to none. Serving over 10 million passengers per year, York Station is almost equidistant to both London and Edinburgh on the East Coast Mainline, with the fastest non-stop service to the former taking 1hr 52. As a hub, it runs daily routes to pretty much every major town and city between Aberdeen and Penzance, while it is a key stop for LNER, Cross Country, Northern and Trans Pennine Services.
