LNOF Guide to Harrogate
Harrogate-crash on your civilised and sophisticated hen weekend.
Picturesque, historic and quaint, the impressive boutique town of Harrogate is a sophisticated choice for your hen weekend. Located in North Yorkshire, just east of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, this Victorian spa town is just about as pretty and scenic as they come.
Born through a boom in spa tourism during the 1800s, Harrogate quickly developed a reputation - which is has maintained - for luxurious getaways for body and soul. It historically attracted the aristocracy and high society of Britain, to enjoy the therapeutic spa treatments, fresh air and famous Harrogate waters from its Royal Pump Room.
I have been to Harrogate so many times and loved it every time. Revolucion de Cuba is great for happy hour and I'd recommend checking out the 'Spoons - it's so classy! Seriously, it is.

However, the elegant town of Harrogate is no longer just a hotbed of dignitaries and posh old people flittering their private pensions, it’s gradually become the in place for a more classy night out. Just because the town is known for its quaint tearooms (we’re looking at you, Betty’s) and perfectly manicured lawns and flowerbeds, it doesn’t mean that it doesn’t know how to let its hair down. In fact, Harrogate’s nightlife will take you by surprise and sweep you up in a whirlwind of chic cocktails bars and exquisite late night clubs. For goodness’ sake, even the ‘Spoons is high-end – located in the former 19th century Winter Gardens on Parliament Street. Plus, as it’s not widely regarded as a top hen party destination, you’re very likely to have your pick of the best accommodation and nightlife options whilst you’re there – nothing but the best for you and your queens.
If you love your retail therapy, you’re in the right place in Harrogate. Different pockets of high street, high-end boutique and designer shops are scattered all over the town like confetti, including the totally unique and urban Parisian-esque shops and cafes of Montpellier. This plush location also boasts a central train station, with frequent connections to Leeds and York – should you fancy taking the party further afield.
