George Street

BUILD YOUR edinburgh HEN

For the sophisticated, classy, cosmopolitan party goers, we’ve got something right up your street (George Street, to be precise).

George Street is the older, more sophisticated sister of Princes Street – it’s all designer shops and swanky bars. During the day, this place is teaming with tourists visiting attractions such as the iconic Dome, and fashionista’s favourite, Harvey Nichols. And, when night falls, Edinburgh’s most stylish flock here – come and join the party…

Let's get started.

1. Le Monde

The world of Le Monde is seriously exclusive.

It’s a boutique hotel, set directly on the main strip, with a plethora of gorgeously glamorous drinking options. Upon passing the gilded rope, you’ll stumble across The Library. This is exactly what you’d expect; leather seating, a relaxing fire, dark wood shelves lined with books, a grand piano, plush white leather booths and, the best bit, a glass bar. Walk through The Library, and you’ll meet the beating heart of the hotel. The Sky Bar is mesmerising, with the New York skyline plastered across one long huge wall, and even a bar that lights up to resemble a golden sky.

Walk even further through the venue (this place is huge) and this is where you will meet Shanghai. This brings the ‘pulsating energy of China right to the streets of Edinburgh’. There are murals on the wall, white leather booths, intricate detailing on the bar and an extensive drinks list. Upstairs, Dirty Martini stands proud as the host of the Scottish Jazz Awards and Scottish Vocal Jazz Festival. This sophisticated, late-night venue for live music, entertainment and events is contemporary and elegant. It also has an atmospheric candle-lit lounge, and a large and vibrant must-see bar.

This stylish city bar is hugely popular in the capital.

It’s trendy and industrial chic, with exposed pipes, long wooden benches and shelves stacked with all kinds of spirits. The drinks list is massive, serving everything from wine and sangria, to cocktails – including Sharp and Sour, Teas and ‘Tinis, Skinny and whisky cocktails (to name but a few). The swanky venue even hosts cocktail workshops, where you’ll be whipping up the finest concoctions under the guidance of a pro.

3. The Standing Order

This is the busiest Wetherspoons in the capital.

It’s set in a grand, Grade A listed Georgian building - named after its original use as a Union Bank for Scotland. At the end of the bar, there’s even a huge statue of a man in a suit, carrying a briefcase. The Standing Order’s central location, fantastically priced food and drink, and amazing neo-classical grandeur and interior means the bar gets busy quickly – especially during big sporting events.

Georgian elegance meets the 21st century.

This seriously trendy venue is underground, just below the popular Tigerlily, and it even features a classic Saturday Night Fever dance floor – perfect for hen groups looking for the cheese factor. This place also has plush VIP areas, bright red booths and even Swarovski crystals embedded in the walls. It’s exclusive and chic, hosting club nights such as the notorious Dirty Sexy. The music is generally chart, house and RnB, and it's open 'til 3am every night of the week – it’s the perfect place to see-off your single years.

George Street is alive with activity 24/7 - if you like what you see, why not take a look at the fabulous hen weekends in Edinburgh that we offer.
