As soon as we crash landed (not literally) into buzzing Budapest, we were met at the airport by our lovely guides, who showed us to our swanky stretch Limo. The 40 minute transfer from the airport to our accommodation flew by, helped along by two stunning strippers who performed stripteases en-route. As soon as we arrived at our accommodation, we dropped our bags off and headed straight to City Park for a spot of sightseeing with a difference.
Attempting to tick the cultural sights off our Budapest ‘to do list’, whilst getting tanked up for a big night out, the beer bike was an obvious choice. We pedalled around the entire perimeter of the famous park, to Heroes Square and back again – drinking 20 litres of beer and taking in the scenery as we went.
As you can imagine, by the time we’d downed 20 litres of beer, we were prepped for a massive night out. We had a traditional Hungarian meal, including goulash (fancy), to properly line the stomachs before heading to the first bar in the Jewish Quarter. Several shots, Palinkas and pints later, we ended in Budapest’s premium strip club, 4Play Lounge, until around 4am. We can’t comment too much on any of the night, because collectively we can remember around 10% of it…
The next morning we were feeling a little rough (to put it lightly), so we headed to one of Budapest’s finest shooting ranges for a spot of target practice to take the edge off our hangovers.
Feeling like proper MI5 agents, we got our fingers behind the triggers of some seriously powerful weapons – including Kalashnikov AK-47 rifles, 17.9mm Glock pistols, 357 Magnum revolvers, Mark IV. 22 pistols and Remington 870 shotguns – we seriously felt that adrenaline rush. Firing 37 bullets each, we perfected (ish) our aim and defiantly improved as the day more on (and the hangovers wore off).
After shooting, most of us were still feeling pretty ropey, which is exactly why we headed to Szechenyi Thermal Baths – the largest medicinal bath in Europe. We soaked (and sweated out those hangovers) in thousands of litres of hot healing water, bubbling from thermal springs deep underground.
There are a whopping 18 pools to choose from, including everything from swimming and adventure pools, to whirlpools and massage water areas. Some of us got personal massages to relax and rejuvenate ourselves from the night before, and the bolder of our group even got themselves to the on-site bar to truly put the ‘hair of the dog’ theory to the test.
