September 2024

Liverpool is a northern powerhouse bursting with music, culture and nightlife everywhere you look. It’s also our #1 destination for hens and #3 destination for stags, so it’s only right we went to test out Liverpool’s hottest new activities– you’re welcome!

Check out what we got up to for a weekend in Liverpool!

FRIDAY 1PM -
Gravity Max

Our first activity of the day was a triple combo activity at . Located in Liverpool One, Gravity Max is a massive entertainment complex for all sorts of fun and games. This includes a multi-level E-karting track that flashes various different colours. It felt a bit like Rainbow Road from Mario Kart, but a lot safer!

Then we had a go at Ten Pin Bowling. This was really cool because you could choose different game modes where the alley would light up in different ways such as with rainbows or stars. Some of us did brilliantly and those of us who didn’t were guttered…

Finally, we tried out Batting Cages which was where balls would fly out at you and you had to hit them with cricket bats, baseball bats and tennis rackets. We had a really good time; in fact, you could say we had a ball… (*tips hat*).

You can read more in LNOF Try Gravity.

FRIDAY 3:30PM -
Check in to accommodation

Next we headed to , that are just off Concert Square, a major Liverpool nightlife spot. The apartments were spacious with a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom with rainfall shower and a living room with large sofas. Our apartment had a massive telly, although we didn’t find much time to watch it. There was coffee with little milk sachets that ended up being a godsend on a morning.

FRIDAY 5:30PM -
Bottomless Brunch

We made our way to Liverpool One Shopping Centre for a spot of at the Latin American inspired Las Iguanas. The bar is decked out with super cute and colourful bunting and had a relaxed vibe.

We enjoyed tasty brunch sized portions of Las Iguanas favourites such as chilli bowls, tacos and burgers. But the food was only a small part of the reason we were there, the main reason was bottomless cocktails baby (beer also available). Just like the years in Smash Mouth’s All Star… the drinks started coming and they didn’t stop coming.

FRIDAY 7:30PM -
Be at One Cocktail Class

It was 19:30, which meant we had a place to be... and that place was Be At One cocktail bar. Our professional mixologist was waiting for us ready to get stuck into our . There was an impressive range of ingredients available, including spirits, juices and enough ice to make an igloo. Sometimes with cocktail classes you don’t get to choose your cocktail but with this one you did (in fact you got to choose 2), which meant there was something that we all liked.

Once we’d made our own cocktail, we chose a game where we got split into pairs and had to link arms and make a cocktail using just one arm each – we can’t say whether or not cocktail mix went on the floor (it did). Meanwhile the bartenders were dancing on the bar and flinging ice around to It’s Raining Men – standard stuff!

FRIDAY 9:30PM -
Mathew Street Pub Crawl

Cocktail class complete, we headed to Mathew Street, ‘the birthplace of The Beatles’. Mathew Street is home to The Cavern Club (where The Beatles have played), Eric’s (an iconic Liverpool music venue) and a whole host of fun bars/clubs such as Flares and Kaiserkeller. We hit up Rubber Soul, a buzzing bar which had statues of The Beatles that we just HAD to pose with.

We made our way through various Liverpool bars and ended up at Coyote Ugly Saloon, a cowboy themed boozer. This was the second bar of the night that featured dancing on the bar. There was even a Rodeo bull you could ride. Interestingly, The Venga Boys was playing in EVERY bar, it’s lucky we like to party…

SATURDAY 10AM -
Scavenger Hunt

Up bright and early(ish) it was time for our scavenger hunt. We had to walk around Liverpool to take pictures of things we were asked to find which included, Liverpool Football Club merch, something Beatle’s related, a Liverpool postcard or magnet and something stag or hen related. Some of us were creative with our pictures… a selfie of us with a pack of sweets that has a hen on it counts right?!

SATURDAY 11AM -
Bar & Club Tour

We met up with one of our main Liverpool suppliers to have a neb in some of the bars and clubs we offer. This little walking tour, led by our host Liam, took us to venues here, there and everywhere, such as the stunning Old Bank (a cocktail bar set in, you’ve guessed it, an old bank), The Celtic Corner (an epic Irish-themed sports bar) and Soho (a banging club found on Concert Square).

After all that walking and going ‘oooh that looks nice’ we settled down to a meal at Einstein’s. We were greeted with huge platters of bratwurst, pretzels, chicken tenders, loaded chips, nachos and more! It was great, but to be honest the meal could have been just about anything as far as the lads were concerned as the football was on and Newcastle was playing…

SATURDAY 2:30PM -
Moonshine Saloon

We finally dragged the lads away from the football to our next activity, , which is a wild west themed immersive cocktail experience. After smuggling in our ‘Moonshine’ (spiced rum, two vodkas and a pink gin), we were given cowboys hats and very cosy ponchos and led inside.

The bar was charming with wild-west themed décor. There was even cards, dice and money on the table so we could play games. The bar staff rustled us up some lush cocktails that looked and tasted great. Everything was going lovely until the Sheriff turned up…

We don’t want to say too much (although you can read more in LNOF Try Moonshine Saloon) but things got pretty explosive. With theatrical scenes, photo opportunities and even some sneaky shots of Moonshine, we thought this place was simply the west…

SATURDAY 5PM -
Tops Dart Club

Doing at Cheers Big Ears bar wasn’t on our itinerary, but it looked so much fun we just had to try it out! The darts here were electronic darts which was a fun mix of technology and darts. There were lots of games you could play including a rather brutal game called ‘Killer’ which consisted of trying to wipe everyone else out of the game. Some of us were very good at this and for some of us, it was an achievement just to hit the board. This was also just a super nice bar with colourful booths to chill out in and very reasonably priced frozen cocktails.

SATURDAY 6:30PM -
Tonight Josephine

Next up was , a stunning pink paradise packed to the rafters with hen groups. This place made Barbie’s dream house look like a real dive with its neon signs, glitzy decor and a mirrored ceiling. We turned up just as a Bottomless Brunch was happening. This meant that two fabulous drag queens, with some very impressive dance moves, had the floor.

The whole thing was mayhem in the best way ever with cheesy bangers and lip sync battles that would put RuPaul to shame. The cocktails were amazing too – some were themed around sweets like Starburst and candyfloss, and one even came in a super cool toucan shaped glass!

SATURDAY 8PM -
Beer/Prosecco Bike

If you don’t know what a is, it’s basically a massive bike that several people can all pedal at the same time, whilst drinking beer. Some beer bikes are bring your own beer, but not this one. This one had a whole load of booze (both beer and prosecco) to get stuck into whilst we pedalled.

Prosecco poured and tunes on, it was time to set off. It was a bit like the gym except you’re sinking pints and having people in cars honk at you (for fun reasons). At one point some random guy hopped on the bike with us, which would have been fine except he selected a non-pedalling seat!

SATURDAY 11PM -
Level VIP Table

It was time to take our night to the next level, because the nightclub we had tables booked at was called Level and also because we were on the top floor (that joke works on two levels….). is a massive nightclub in Concert Square that has six rooms and seven bars. It even has a selfie room and a ball pit.

We were seated in the VIP area which was cordoned off from the rest of the club. It even had a doorman guarding it. The area we were in was fabulous with spacious and plush booths, laser lighting and the most impressive disco balls you ever did see. Even better, we got delivered a big old bucket of booze to the table including spirits, mixers and shots. Not gonna lie the night was a bit of a blur after this but it was a damn good night!

SUNDAY 12PM -
Boom Battle Bar

We were a little worse for wear on our final day, but we had a little bit of get-up-and-go left in us. It’s just as well as we had another triple whammy activity on the itinerary - . First was where the expert, or ‘axepert’ if you will, showed us the techniques we needed to try and hit the target. Despite being hungover, most of us managed to make at least one axe stick.

Then it was time to play for the second time this trip. There were all sorts of games that included a farming one (where you had expand your farm and destroy everyone else’s farm), Robin Hood (where you needed to get as close to the bullseye as possible) and Bullseye (where you had to answer quiz questions).

Finally, we played , and this was REALLY crazy golf with catapults, levers and conveyer belts. It was a quali-tee end to our trip. If you’re interested in knowing more check out LNOF Try Boom Battle Bar.

SUNDAY 3PM -
Goodbye Liverpool

Sadly, our time in Liverpool was at an end. Most of us already knew the city well but this trip really made us realise what an amazing place Liverpool is for a night out. It’s no surprise at all it’s a #1 choice for hens and a #3 choice for stags. It’s the perfect place to ‘come together’ with your fellow stags and hens for an off the chart trip.
