Haway The Heed

If you haven’t heard the news then where have you been?!

We’re proud to announce that we have become official sponsors of non-league side, Gateshead FC. The club, which plays its home games at the 11,800-capacity Gateshead International Stadium, just a stone’s throw from our Quayside HQ, currently play in the Vanarama National League and have high hopes of making it back into league football after 35 years.

Gateshead FC almost saw their dreams become a reality just a few seasons ago, when they reached the play-off semi-final, only to be pipped to the post by Cambridge United in a close encounter at Wembley Stadium. Manager Steve Watson’s men hope to do one better and be promoted this season.

Being a local team, they boast an abundance of talent from the north east, including the likes of centre forward Luke Armstrong from Middlesbrough. Perhaps the most well-known player at the club is former Newcastle United central defender, Mike Williamson, who made 150 appearances during his time at the Toon Army. We at Last Night of Freedom will be cheering on the Heed and have our fingers crossed for a successful campaign.
