UPDATE SEPTEMBER 2022:
Over 200 days after the invasion, there are green shoots of hope for Eastern Europe. Business is slowly picking up. Last Night of Freedom previously pledged a share of profits from summer bookings to Eastern Europe, and we are proud to make an initial £2,000 donation to the Disasters Emergency Committee. But we don’t want to stop there – with your help, we want to give £5,000, so support Eastern Europe by visiting it on your stag or hen do.
Our Pledge to Help Ukraine
Eastern Europe has been good to Last Night of Freedom – now we want to give something back.
The invasion in Ukraine has horrified the world, causing the biggest European humanitarian crisis since World War Two.
The devastating impact of Russia’s invasion is also being felt outside Ukraine’s border, in countries where we have sent thousands of stags and hens over the years.
Poland, Hungary and Latvia have all opened their homes and hearts to help refugees fleeing conflict. However, we now see the strain this war is having on their economy.
Generally, bookings with LNOF have returned to pre-pandemic levels - especially in Britain and West Europe. However, bookings in Eastern Europe have fallen substantially since February, with customers generally moving their trips away from the area so Last Night of Freedom is now pledging to donate a share of our profits to help refugee charities.
“Eastern Europe has been wonderful not only for Last Night of Freedom, but the stag and hen industry in general,” said our Manging Director Matt Mavir.
“To see the crisis unfold in Ukraine and the surrounding states has devastated myself and our staff. Many have developed close friendships with our incredible partners working in these cities, so it has really hit home.
“We wanted to do what we could, not only to support the aid effort, but to also encourage visitors to these wonderful destinations, especially since they are all very much still open for business.”
Until at least June, Last Night of Freedom will donate 10% of profits, made from bookings to Riga, Budapest and all our Polish destinations.
These are:
Our donation will aid good causes assisting a region which is currently home to some of the millions of Ukrainians displaced by the conflict.
Yet despite the warzone across the border, in places like Poland and Hungary, the stag and hen sector in Eastern Europe is still very much open for business – and as fun as ever.
Besides nightclubs and bars, visitors can enjoy a huge range of action-packed activities on their stag or hen trip – ranging from a scenic river cruise to mud wrestling.
