Xtreme Events provide a ton of different activities to our stags and hens all throughout the UK. Activities include bubble football/bubble mayhen, battlezone archery, footdarts, goggle football…. The list really does go on! We spent two hours having lots of little taster sessions of some of their bestsellers.
The Ballers
We arrived at the sports centre in our gym gear ready to take on the day’s games. Our fab hosts , Adam and Dan, explained to us how the day was going to run. The first thing they did was they took us upstairs so we could play glow in the dark dodgeball…. We were raring to go, but the first job was to split into two teams and come up with a team name each. We came up with The Ballers and Touching Balls (because we’re dead classy like that).
Team name chosen; it was time for our game of . There was a load of balls in the middle of the room. We had to run into the middle and pick them up to throw at the other team. If you got hit by a ball, then you were out. The aim of the game was to dodge the balls (funnily enough). There were lots of different versions of the game to play, for example we played a game called ‘Medic’, where one person on each team was a medic, which meant they could bring any team members who were out back to life. You had to work out who the medic was and get them out.
Ready, set, glow
We headed back downstairs to take part in . We stayed in our same teams to play various games that you might play as a part of sports day. The first game was ‘get your kit on’ where we had to run and get our bibs and put them on in a relay race form. We also did a space hopper race, an egg and spoon race, a skipping race and a speed walking race.
Next up was . This is where you had to play football whilst wearing glasses that make you feel like you’re drunk. We’re no strangers to being drunk here at LNOF but we’re not used to playing football whilst smashed. The funniest thing was watching everyone else trying to dribble the ball but ending up right on the other side of the room.
This ain't a scene.... it's an arms race
Then it was time for . This was a bit like Robin Hood meets The Hunger Games because we split into teams and had to fire arrows at each other. We started by learning how to use the bow and arrows…. Then it was time for human target practise. We then played a game where we had to run out into the open and retrieve a set of tennis balls…. Whilst the other team fired at us! We did have some defences to hide behind, but we weren’t allowed to stay there for very long.
Having been shot at with arrows, it was time for , which is a mixture of football and darts. We had to kick, or throw, a football at a giant inflatable darts board. Some of us scored really well and some of us (me) missed the board entirely. Then we played a game of ‘round the clock’, where we had to try and hit the board going from trying to hit number one and counting upwards to finishing off with the bullseye.
Basically The Hunger Games
Our final activity to try was Bubble Football. Bubble Football is one of our best-selling stag activities throughout the UK. There’s also available, which is geared specifically towards hens. The general idea is you have to put on a zorb-like outfit whilst playing a game of football… this has you bumping and rolling all over the place.
First, we put on the bubbles. We placed them on their side and had to crawl in… a bit like Bruce Willis in Die Hard in that tunnel… but more fun. Bubbles secured, we then had to do a trust fall backwards letting the bubble catch us. Then we had to run around and bump into each other gently to start with, then with more power. We played a quick game of Bulldog where some of us went flying. I was anxious to try this activity, but it was actually super fun and falling over didn’t hurt.
Zorbing meets football
This brought us to the end of our session. Our hosts had done an excellent job of making the session fun and engaging, as well as making sure that we were comfortable and okay with the activities. Take it from someone who used to hate P.E at school, this was seriously fun. It would also work super well as an ice breaker if your group don’t all know each other already.
If you’re reading this article and thinking ‘wow these activities sound great’, then the good news is that although we tried all of these activities in ...they are also available in most of our major UK locations such as , , and .
