The queen of hen party locations, Liverpool topped our table time for the second year in a row. Why? Because it is hen heaven! This Mersey paradise is packed with classy cocktail bars and incredible restaurants while it is also a culture vulture’s paradise. From The Beatles to the Grand National, there’s always something going on in the city which usually attracts a couple of hundred stags and hens each weekend – meaning the nightspots are almost permanently buzzing. During the day you can try everything from an afternoon drag show to the hilarious water wipe out down in the iconic Albert Docks, while as the night sets in, you could embark on a bar crawl along Mathew Street (home of the legendary Cavern Club) or sample some of that superb Scouse humour at a comedy club. Alternatively, you could live like a local and try one of Liverpool’s best kept secrets. Whatever you choose to do, Liverpool won’t let you down – just check out our guide to start planning your weekend at LNOF’s top rated hen party location. Our hometown is runner-up for the second year in a row, but silver ain’t too shabby. Newcastle is a pure belter night out and is one of Europe’s biggest hen (and stag) hotspots, with the city centre absolutely packed come Friday night. From the classy cosmopolitan beauty of the city’s picturesque Grey and Dean Street to the Geordie Shore hangout that is the Diamond Strip , Newcastle has everything you could ever want from a hen party location. Despite being a major city, everything pretty much happens in the space of a few square miles. Most of the accommodation is slap bang in the city centre (including our own exclusive hen party nest, Honeypot House and there is a massive range of glorious, madcap activities to keep you busy from a stunning afternoon tea and the very swish Six to getting the girls together to play a real-life version of Squid Games. And if you have some spare change, why not hire a Geordie Shore star to join you for the big night out?! Check out our extensive Newcastle Hen Guide.
There’s nothing ‘wee’ about Edinburgh’s popularity. The Scottish capital has always been a hen haven, and over the past 12 months it has cemented itself as one of Europe’s biggest and best locations for brides-to-be. From enchanting. cobbled backstreets filled with boutique shops to the prestige of the Royal Mile, Edinburgh is packed with places to part with your cash – and that’s before you’ve sampled the whiskey (or cocktails). If you fancy some of the 150+ activities then there’s the Highland Games to put the girls through their paces, or if you fancy getting your hands on your very own highlander, then why not book a cheeky butler? Just remember there’s only one way to find out if he’s a real Scotsman! For more information, visit our Edinburgh hen guide.
‘If you want to ‘bee’ the best hen party organiser ever (well, after LNOF), you could do a lot worse than booking a weekend in Manchester. While it has a somewhat unfair reputation for being a bit wet, that hasn’t dampened demand with Manchester creeping up the rankings this year. It doesn’t hurt that the city is unbelievably hip – an afternoon roaming around the Northern Quarter will drive that home, while as always, the beating heart of the city is the incredible live music scene. Pretty much every cool band of the past 40 years (plus Simply Red) has emerged from Manchester, and if you want a weekend of cool party bars, incredible nightlife and bottomless brunches (that’s surely the dream), then Manchester is calling.
Irish eyes will most definitely be smiling when the locals see you and the rest of the girls - the locals in Dublin absolutely love hens, and that’s just one of the reasons it has been a staple in our top ten lists for so many years. Dublin is the EU’s party capital, and even if it isn’t exactly cheap, it always delivers as a destination. The city is just glorious, with history on every corner and some of the most iconic pubs and bars in the world. The locals love the craic as much as they love a beer – bop the night away down the iconic Temple Bar or, if you fancy spending the time in the city’s beautiful Italian quarter, go and sink some of the black stuff on a bar crawl North of the River Liffey. As far as activities go, a Pedi Bike tour would let you see as much as the city as possible while Dublin is awash with cracking hotels that make the perfect hen party base for your weekend away. Bustling Belfast is Last Night of Freedom’s fastest growing hen party destination in recent years, and has become a firm fixture in our annual top 10. Insta-friendly York has exploded in popularity among hens in the last few years, as the North’s best kept secret is finally out. This is an incredible hen party location. Groups who go here fall in love with what is an utterly whimsical city, captivated by the cobbled streets made famous in the Harry Potter films. Most of the businesses are independent, with outstanding bars such as Evil Eye and the House of Trembling Madness that gives anywhere in the country a run for its money. Be it The Shambles or Fossgate, every part of York is picture perfect, while the walled city’s spooky past (it is apparently the most haunted in the UK) means a Ghost Bus Tour is a must-do activity. Check out our York hen party guide for more information on a weekend in the city.
It might have a reputation for being Blackpool in the sun, but Benidorm is so much more than that. There’s a reason groups of hens are flocking there in record numbers, with the Spanish town an absolute party paradise. With bars open until 6-7am every day and drinks costing as a little as one Euro, it is the ultimate budget-friendly resort for groups seeking something a bit more – well – wild. Having recently visited Benidorm ourselves in the past 12 months, LNOF can’t vouch for the place enough. The activites are exceptional, while the nightlife has to be experienced once in your lifetime. There’s simply nowhere else like Benidorm.
