Stunning Elizabethan manor house, sleeps 23, an hour drive from London

Found just an hour car journey from London, this stunning Elizabethan manor house, sleeps up to twenty-three guests. Set in 40 acres of parkland, this upmarket property was originally built in 1540 and offers privacy for your group. There is secure parking for up to 20 cars outside the house, which is super handy.

The manor is incredibly ornate and has seven classy and spacious rooms, which look out onto the picturesque park. You can cook up a storm in the large, well-equipped kitchen that boasts an Aga as well as an electric hob and oven. The flexible dining room can seat up to 36 people. There’s a cosy sitting room with an open fire, Sky TV, karaoke, and a PlayStation. There are six bath/shower rooms. Wi-fi is available throughout the manor house.

The stand out feature of the house has got to be the seasonal heated pool with an accompanying pool house. The pool house can seat 40 + people for a meal. There’s a large terrace with a BBQ and a firepit. The gardens are also brilliant and feature an orchard, various ponds, chickens, ducks and seasonally cows and sheep. This is the perfect place for a classy escape to the country. It’s also great if you want to get out into the countryside but also want somewhere easy to get to from London.

Manor of Hurst is found just a one hours drive from London. You can also get a train and a bus here if you don’t drive. The town of Woodley is less than a 9 minutes’ drive away. Here you will find shops, such as a Lidl, which is great for getting some supplies in. There are also a couple of bars you could hit up should you fancy.

Security Bond

Required for Check In Details - £400.00

A group security bond of £400.00 will be requested 1-2 weeks before your weekend. You will be required to pay this before details of the check-in are provided. This will be refunded within 14 days of departure provided there is no damage to property and all house rules have been adhered to.

Please Note: LNOF do not hold any influence over security bonds and the decision to charge this and the amount requested is completely at the discretion of the accommodation provider.

Checking In

Check in is from 2pm on arrival day. The house manger will show you how the house works, and from there you can make yourselves at home. We ask that you share this information with your other guests and ask them to read the house rules, fire information and other information in each room. You are responsible for passing on all information from the briefing on the house we give you on your arrival, to all your guests.

Check Out is by 3.00pm, please text the house manager 15 minutes before you are planning to leave so that they can check over the house with you

Property Restrictions

  • NO SMOKING IN THE HOUSE AT ANY TIME. There are smoke detectors throughout the house. Guests may smoke outside. There are ash buckets on the terrace.
  • External contractors will only be allowed with prior authorization. Strippers, cocktail waiters, butlers in the buff do not suit the Manor and are not allowed on site.
  • You also may want to bring stubby candles/tea lights for the lanterns provided -These must not be allowed to burn down to/melt onto the table on the terrace. Battery operated candles only inside the house.
  • We ask you do not move any furniture. This includes beds in the house and tables on the terrace. Should you like something moved, please ask. We will be very glad to do so for you. Some of the furniture is very delicate and needs care. Do not adjust any radiator. The seals are delicate and will break. Please ask should you need an adjustment.
  • Please respect the plumbing. The house is old, and the plumbing cannot handle cardboard of any type. Put nothing but loo paper in the loos. Please use the bins provided. You will be charged for any major blockages requiring a plumber. There are reminder notices on each lavatory.
  • We would be grateful if you turn off lights when you are not using a room. Bugs and bats are attracted to lights at night, so it's to all guests benefit and green to turn off the lights.
  • Pool. Cover needs to be replaced after use if you want the pool to stay warm. You will ensure your guests are able to swim if using the pool. Children must be supervised at all times. We strongly advise you to not swim alone nor use the pool after dark.
  • Please be sure to shut all gates behind you so animals do not escape and do not go through gates wired closed.
  • A house manager is on site at all times should you have any problems/questions with the house and you can contact them by text/phone. The manager will also lock outside doors, check all fires are extinguished and check lights all off after everyone has retired upstairs for the night. 4am is fine! This will be explained to you when you check in.
  • Please let us know of any breakages. Spillages must be cleaned as well as possible, then please let us know about them.
  • Do not put glasses or mugs on the polished furniture at any time as they damage the wood. Use coasters or glass covered tables and keep wet towels off wood furniture.
  • Please do not put any Bluetac/tape on any of the wood around the house, some of which is from the 16th Century. Do not hang anything off wall light fittings. No tape on walls or pictures or windows. Decorations can be tied to the bannisters in entry hall and on the terrace. No balloons or anything of the kind should be put up outside the grounds of the house, i.e. on the road.
  • Only vehicles of guests staying in the house will be parked overnight on the drive. No caravans or camping of any sort on the property without prior permission from the management.
  • The numbers of guests agreed at payment must not increase without informing us. For insurance and fire evacuation purposes we must know the exact number of people staying in the house.
  • Any damage to any part of the Manor caused by one of your party is your responsibility and it is booked on the condition that you will cover the costs of repairs.
  • Day guests, visitors who are not staying but come for the day are limited to 2. More than 2 are chargeable. Please ask for details should you be planning this.
  • All music outside needs to be at a background level and brought inside at 11:00 pm. No group singing outside please. Inside you can sing loudly all night!
  • Use of glitter, confetti , table confetti or any similar is prohibited! It is a nightmare to get out of carpets.
  • The house and outside should be left in a decently clean state, with all rubbish and recycling put in appropriate vessels and all paraphernalia taken away, dishes/glasses cleaned or in the dishwasher. We remove your rubbish and recycling. Food waste to be put in the appropriate container under the sink. Our council wants it recycled not put in general rubbish, which we will sort.
