This stunning building can’t be missed…. Literally, it’s so imposing it will be hard to miss it. The Millennium Centre is Wales’s national arts centre, and it can be found down in the Cardiff Bay area (see point two). It spans a huge 4.7 acres, making it one of the most eye-catching landmarks around. This mega venue is used for all sorts of cool things. Plays and musicals are one of the main things it’s used for. Here you’ll get to enjoy shows from hard hitting new writing to musicals like Madagascar. They also do immersive storytelling exhibitions that you view with VR headsets.
Cardiff Bay
If you’re going to Cardiff, you can’t miss this ‘bad bay’ out! Cardiff Bay is Europe's largest waterfront development with bars, shops, and attractions. It’s super picturesque and has plenty of fun watering holes to check out like The Dock and a spacious Wetherspoons. Here you will find attractions such as The Wales Millennium Centre, Techniquest (a science museum!) and Cardiff International White Water (an epic whitewater rafting centre). There are loads of popular chain restaurants around the Mermaid Quay in Cardiff Bay such as Wagamama, Bill’s and Pizza Express. You can pick up the Aquabus here too that will take you back to the city centre.

Holding a massive 74,500 spectators, this iconic rugby pitch has seen some legendary sporting moments. Built originally to host the 1999 Rugby World Cup, this is the home of the Wales national rugby union team. It’s possible to book a tour around this magnificent stadium where you’ll get to check out the changing rooms and the players’ tunnel. Most will know Principality Stadium as a rugby pitch, but it’s also used for concerts. Huge stars such as The Foo Fighters, Taylor Swift, and Pink have or will play here. Whether it’s sport or music, the events held here bring a massive buzz to Cardiff and its surrounding nightlife areas.

Shop like a local by having a neb around the brilliant Cardiff market. Housed within an impressive Victorian structure, this market has been trading since the 1700s. There are two floors of stalls to explore. You can get all sorts from here such as cheeses, vintage clothing, smoking paraphernalia and loads more. It’s a great place to swing by for lunch. Or, if you’re staying in an apartment or a house then you can grab some high-quality bread, meat, fish, or eggs. If you don’t get breakfast in with your accommodation, then they do one heck of a fry up here.

A grand sight if ever there was one, Cardiff Castle boasts 2,000 years of history. This super cool castle consists of a Roman fort, a Norman stronghold, and a Victorian palace. Cardiff Castle, with its fairytale-looking tower, is one of Wales’s leading heritage attractions. There’s loads to see and do. You can check out the wartime shelters, which are a set of Anderson shelters that were used during World War II. Or you can take a look at the famous Norman Keep (great photo opportunities here). This White-Water Rafting centre is set right in the heart of Cardiff Bay. This exhilarating activity centre offers white and flat water, connected to the river that you can raft in. There also a whole load of other adrenaline-fuelled activities, such as gorge walking, stand up paddleboarding and indoor surfing. It pumps an impressive sixteen cubic metres of water per second… which is an equivalent to eighty bathtubs. They can change the pressure depending on your ability, making is great for both beginners and those a little more familiar with this super cool sport. National Museum Cardiff

This free-to-enter museum and art gallery is chocka with exciting exhibits. You can find all sorts here from contemporary art to exhibits about dinosaurs. Marvel upon five hundred years of spectacular paintings, drawings, sculpture, silver, and ceramics from Wales and further afield. You can also enjoy The Evolution of Wales exhibit that will start with the big bang and bring you face to face with dinosaurs (could it get any more exciting?!). The dinosaurs are not alive, but your passion for history certainly will be. You can also take some fun pics with the enormous Basking Shark that hangs from the ceiling.
Roath Park
Opened in 1894, Roath Park was one of the first public parks in Cardiff. It has retained all of its charm and character from the Victorian times. This Grade 1 listed historic park is a cracking place to blow off the cobwebs when you’re hungover. The 30-acre man-made lake is lush to look at and is used for fishing and boating. The Botanic Garden boasts an impressive selection of trees and shrubs. The Roth Park Conservatory has lots of cute fishes to look at (a well-known hangover cure). What more can we say? It’s a park and it’s generally very nice – go take a look!
Techniquest

Situated down on Cardiff Bay, this great big glass building is sure to catch your eye. Techniquest is a science and discovery museum. It focuses on five key areas: space, the environment, chemistry, world issues and biomedical science. Instead of just wandering around looking at stuff, this museum is quite interactive and hands on. There are over one hundred hands-on exhibits to enjoy, which is great if you love pressing random buttons to make stuff happen (who doesn’t?). Also, you can watch live science shows in the auditorium and enjoy shows in the 360° Planetarium.

Cardiff Airport can be found about fifteen miles from the city centre. You can reach the city centre by a train, a bus, or a taxi. If you don’t want to faff on with public transport, we offer an airport transfer.

Cardiff is the eleventh largest city in the UK, meaning it’s not super walkable. There’s a lot of nightlife in the centre so you could stay around Saint Mary Street and not have to travel anywhere else. If you’re wanting to hop between nightlife areas then there’s busses, taxis and even a waterbus!
Despite being a capital city, Cardiff is named one of the cheaper places in the UK to enjoy a night out. In fact, it’s 41% cheaper than London, meaning your pounds will go quite a bit further here.
