Top Reasons to Visit Jesmond |
---|
 | Bars - With the largest concentration of students, the Happy Hour offers don't get better than this. |
 | Restaurants - Bursting with traditional pubs, quirky bars and Asian-style restraunts |
 | Music - These unique pubs all have one thing in common: live music. You'll be spoilt for choice. |
 | Shopping - This area has got food, clothing and a whole load of designer boutiques. |
 | Art - Cure your hangover, walking around the impressive Jesomond Dene Arts Market. |
The crowd is lively, but it’s not just young‘uns… a huge number of Newcastle natives head over to Jesmond once the temperature reaches over 6°C (it is the North East). It’s unlike anything you’ve ever seen (or heard) before, and the main bars on the legendary Osborne Road are within 100 yards of each other.
Just a short taxi, or even metro, from the centre of Newcastle – this district extends from Osborne Road, to neighbouring Archbold Terrace and Jesmond Vale. Recognised as the starting point to a night in the city, the bars typically open from 11am – it’s a day drinker’s paradise. Whilst there may only be a few venues open until the wee early hours (you’ll have stumbled into town…), it’s bouncing as soon as the sun rises.

No stag do worth its salt is without pubs or bars. Jesmond just so happens to have a whole load, most with big screens, beer pong tables and even dedicated FIFA nights.

Osbornes has three bars, set over two venues, and is a sterling choice for craft ales and beer. All of this rubs along nicely with the epic Man Vs Food challenge and the regular FIFA gaming nights, as well as footy matches on the big screen, live music and beer pong. Cash Machines
Cash machines are dotted around the district's takeaways, and there are even three within a five minute walk (the Geordies have got their priorities right). Tesco Metro is just off the main strip, on Acorn Road, along with Barclays, and for those feeling a bit too posh – little Waitrose ATM is directly on Osborne Road.
Taxis
Jesmond may be just outside of the city centre, but it couldn’t be easier to get to – even after your craft beers, cask ales, cocktails… Jesmond Metro is at the start of the busy street, surrounded by bars, and West Jesmond is at the other end. To put it in perspective, it’s a three minute, direct metro to Monument. However, if manoeuvring a metro after spending the day down Osborne Road is as likely as you getting in before the next morning… there’s a taxi rank on the ‘strip’. The Hackney Carriages will take you wherever you so please – such as the legendary Bigg Market – for a mere £6.
Takeaways
You can go all that way with the help of a trusty kebab. The famous Osborne Pizza, loved by students, locals, businessmen, you name it... is just of Osborne Road. But, you've got the likes of A Taste of Persia and other cool restaurants on the doorstep of these big bars.
After all of that info, we can assume you are ready for the stag do in wor city. It just so happens that you can build your own celebration on our Newcastle stag weekends page.
