A bird's eye view of some lads dancing with lasers above them

M1 is the biggest and best in the Old Town. The premier lounge bar and club is pure luxury; an upscale venue dedicated to extravagance and decadence. It’s so upmarket, Matt Damon, Elijah Wood, Live Schrieber and even Coolio have enjoyed a pilsner with the Czechs. Set just a couple of minutes from the Old Town Square, you’re surrounded by similar venues, but you’ll not need to move on – this place is open until 6am… The legendary club is famous for its extensive portfolio of international DJs, as well as hordes of gorgeous women and scattered VIP areas to rest and recoup in. It’s where dreams become reality.

Two robot arms and a hundred bottles hanging from the ceiling

Located within the huge Karlovy Lazne – Nightclub, this unique bar offers a one-of-a-kind interactive experience. No longer will you have to try to get the attention of a bartender because you will get your drinks using a robotic arm. Using a tablet, you will order, and the robot arm will use more than one hundred bottles hanging from the ceiling to whip you up a cocktail (from a range of classic and contemporary options) in under ninety seconds – now that’s impressive! These robots are supplied by KUKA Robotic Corporation of Germany, which is one of the world’s leading suppliers of robot technology. It’s worth coming here even just for one drink for this unique experience, you’d be a ‘wall-e' to skip this one...

Karlovy Lazne holds the title of the ‘most famous venue in Prague’s Old Town’. Karlovy is the largest club in Central Europe, a club designed to get you good and drunk (and a little disorientated, spanning five floors). The ground floor is the Music Café and the second floor is the Disco Room – future home to your Father and Father-in-Law during the stag do. Once you’ve got them settled, move on up to Kaleidoscope, on the third floor, before stopping by the Paradogs Club, moonlighting as a 90s rave… It’s all about techno, house and rave, with the biggest crowd this side of town. After all of that exercise, you can chill out in the aptly named Chill Out, featuring floor cushions and rugs for the ultimate comfort.

04. James Dean Club

V Kolkovne 922/1, 110 00 Staré Mesto

The interiors of James Dean Bar in Prague

The James Dean Club is a step back into the 50s. The American ‘diner’ is inspired by the Land of the Free, and the huge portions that come with it… On entering the ‘Murican venue, you’ll come across a giant mosaic of James Dean and Marilyn Monroe (not complaining), that took a whopping three months to create, before stopping for a pilsner at the massive wooden bar. By massive, we mean 16 metres long… After you’ve got that pint, head downstairs to the basement and you’re in an American petrol station, where you can even rest with that beer on a sofa made from a part of the Lincoln Continental Hard Top Sedan. If that’s not patriotic enough, move on to the Lincoln Lounge, with a dance floor dominated by a huge cage and dancers in sexy, retro costumes.

A man breathing fire in Aloha Bar

Aloha and welcome to Hawaii. You’re still in Prague, but you may as well be drinking out of coconuts on the beach. Tucked away in a side street of the Old Town, just two doors down from Hangar Bar, Aloha has an unparalled buzz and Tiki-style atmosphere. The club nights are famous in the homes of Prague, regularly hosting performers playing with fire, gorgeous dancers and international DJs. Not only that, but they serve the finest selection of booze in totem pole vessels.

06. Zlaty Strom

www.zlatystrom.com

Karlova 187/6, 110 00 Staré Mesto

Lots of people partying under purple lights in Zlaty Storm

Zlaty Strom is one of the big boys in Prague. This underground bar and music club is a labyrinth, one that you’ll find difficult to manoeuvre after a few pilsners… However, we reckon you’ll find the all-night pole dancing bar without a problem. Once you’ve enjoyed a few… drinks in there, you can explore the subterranean dance floor and showcase your best moves to the 80s, 90s and 00s hits. If that’s not enough to entice your stag group (we hold no hope), there’s the world-famous eight man Mojito to attempt. You’ll not regret it (maybe the morning after).

The exterior of One Club

One Club is number one (get it?). This premier venue is sleek and sophisticated, until the music starts… and this place is renowned for its music. Designed by famous Prague bar owners, One has only one aim; to provide a first-class clubbing experience – and it’s succeeded. The quality sound system is big enough to attract the likes of Afrojack, performing epic sets to the huge crowd. When there’s not a famous face in the DJ box, there are plenty of opportunities for your stag do. The striking chandeliers, suave leather booths and impressive prints on the wall provide a stylish backdrop to the magnums of champagne.

08. The Pub

The interiors of a split level bar in Prague

The Pub may sound like a simple concept, but it’s anything but… Not your average local, The Pub is a no-frills, self-service bar. Like the tills at Tesco (without the annoying voice and carrier bag charge), you’ll serve your own pilsner from the beer taps in the middle of each table. These taps even come with a handy computer to log in and keep a check of how much beer you have supped. These aforementioned stats are then displayed on a large TV in the room, along with every other table’s, for you to compete and pip them to the pilsner post. Once you’ve successfully wiped out the competition, you can relax in the terrace to soak up the balmy Prague air (and clear your head).

The cove like interiors of Black Angel's Bar

Black Angel's Bar is everything you’d expect from a 21st century bar… speakeasy. Inspired by the Prohibition (without a ban on booze), this bar has won awards for its tasty alcoholic concoctions. Another addition to the World’s Best Bars website, the Angel is located on the second lower level of Hotel U Prince and is grand, gothic and stone vaulted, with an angel overlooking all the goings-on (behave yourself…). The drinks hail from America’s past, such as The Manhattan, Mary Pickford, the Sazerac and Sidecar, with some even featuring a Tiki (and lethal) twist. The bar even boasts an impressive cigar menu for the more discerning of your stag group.

The Dubliner may as well be located in the Irish capital. The pub has all of the necessary elements for an Irish-inspired venue, down to the actual location in a cellar. The warm and welcoming pub has street lamps for lights and a long bar, serving the finest stout from The Emerald Isle. On tap, you’ve got Guinness, Heineken, Stella and even Staropramen, alongside the two large screens for sports. It’s so traditional, the bouncers moonlight as leprechauns… On that note, you can wear leprechaun costumes.
