We’ve all celebrated St Paddy’s Day and sunk a few pints of Guinness through a ginger beard in his honour, but Ireland’s mad capital will show you how to party on an international scale. This city is lively, diverse and boisterous, with each part of the city offering something different; from the iconic, cobbled streets of the Temple Bar area to the nightclub-rammed Camden, Harcourt and Wexford stretch.
Dublin’s nightlife centres around the legendary Temple Bar district. This area is widely regarded as the centre of the party and the bars stay open until the wee hours, sure. This area truly comes alive after dark, with everything from old-school pubs – including the notorious Temple Bar Pub, where you should make sure you stop for a livener - to trendy music venues, swanky bars and crazy nightclubs to lure you in.
St Stephen’s Green and Grafton Street are also well known for their lively (and stag do friendly) bars, with many of the city’s more upmarket cocktail bars found in these areas – so you could start the celebrations here, before heading over to Temple Bar. Everything about Dublin is great - the Guinness, the girls, the craic, everything. The Irish Whiskey tasting is definitely one of my favourite things to do there.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a rowdy stag weekend in Dublin without visiting the Guinness Storehouse. You can delve deep into the heart of the brewery, get to grips with the brewing process, and kick-back in the Gravity Bar at the top with a pint of the good stuff and enjoy its panoramic views of the city. This is our kind of afternoon.
Not only is Dublin home to a notorious nightlife and Guinness, but Jameson Whiskey was first introduced in the city in 1780. The Old Jameson Distillery is the original site where the whiskey was distilled until 1971, and is now a hugely popular tourist centre, where you and the boys can tour the famous building and sample the spirit before getting stuck into Dublin’s nightlife.
The capital is obsessed with rugby and it’s affectionately thought of as a ‘rugby city’. This is the city to which Leinster has brought three Heineken Cups in four years and boasts the huge Aviva Stadium. Be it the Six Nations, Celtic League or Heineken Cup matches, on match day Dublin is buzzing and you can experience it during your stag weekend. Also keep an eye out for the GAA Football and Hurling finals in September.
