LNOF Guide to Riga
Our MD chose Riga for his stag weekend.
The fact that you’re reading this means Riga must be on your shortlist of places to take the boys - and for that alone, we salute you. Put simply, Riga is the dog’s Baltics. It’s an authentic East European gem with a persuasive penchant for partying, and is the ideal city for a sensational stag weekend abroad.
Our Managing Director and founder, Matt, had the good sense to pick out Riga for his own stag celebrations several years ago. Matt’s event is one of thousands of successful Baltic benders we’ve put together since helping to pioneer this prize location at the turn of the millennium, reflecting the rich depth of the Latvian capital’s nightlife, as well as its dazzlingly sexy women and enduring word-of-mouth reputation.
Since 2009, Riga has gone from strength to strength, cementing its position as one of our biggest selling Eastern European stag locations and gaining a whole new wave of converts into the bargain. Most of your weekend will be concentrated in Riga’s partly-cobbled Old Town, known as Vecriga. The city does not have the colossal number of hotels you would expect from a capital, but what we offer there is excellent quality whilst being central, stag friendly and of superb value.
I've been to Riga several times, and even had my own stag do there. It's got cheap booze, top class activities and beautiful women. I can't recommend it enough.
And, now we have to mention the women in Riga. Riga’s women are undeniably a key factor in why so many stag parties fall in love with the destination before they’ve even unpacked. Riga girls speak perfect English, but this doesn’t mean you won’t score big brownie points by whipping out your (steady now) three basic Latvian phrases - so polish up on your “Ludzu” (Please – pronounced ‘loo-dzu’) and your “Paldies” (Thanks – pronounced ‘puhl-day-es’) and see the reaction you get when you do.
As well as its legendary nightlife, the menu of organised events and activities through the day and early evening – be it the 70 km per hour Olympic bobsleigh run, walking on water with an epic Jet-Lev experience, or sampling the famous Medieval Banquet or some AK47 and Shotgun shooting – is proven and popular. Riga is the very reason stag dos were invented.
