Quick Overview
  • Safety instruction and equipment
  • 1 hour
  • Challenging off road course
  • 30 minutes drive from Edinburgh
  • Add transfers for a supplement
  • Minimum 2

You’re strong, mighty and noble men, but how are women supposed to know this if you don’t spend a bit of time bombing about the countryside in a 4x4 every now and then? Exactly. They’ll know nothing if you don’t get behind the wheel, strap on your helmet and safety goggles (lasses dig that look) and scream as loud as you can (not in a girly way, obvs) as you hurtle over a load of obstacles. This epic centre is just outside of Edinburgh, in the invigorating Scottish countryside, so you can add return transfers for a supplement (don’t worry, you don’t have to drive those as well). You and the boys will have one hour on the challenging track, plenty of time for you to show off your proper alpha-male credentials.

  • 1 hour and 20 minutes from Edinburgh
  • Available between April and end of October
  • Add transfers for a supplement
  • Minimum 4

As the name suggests, this activity is indeed an adventure – but a pretty chilled-out and relaxed one at that. River tubing is unique and fun and allows you to get stuck into the river activities without any prior experience – you can just kick-back and float along the river in a lazy haze. The rubber rings (or river tubes, as they are officially called) are purpose built to withstand any bangs and bumps in the river, and you’ll have a qualified river guide with you along the way. This adventure tubing package will take you on a journey down the river with steep gorges, class two rapids and, after, you can even have a go at cliff jumping – so you’ll definitely blow away any cobwebs from the night before.

This indoor venue is one of the finest in Edinburgh, with its very own bar and restaurant if you work up quite the appetite blasting the target. The rifles are some of the best in the biz, so you’re in for a real treat when you step up to the plate.

It’s always a conundrum when one has to choose between air rifle shooting, clay pigeon shooting and Segways, isn’t it? We’ve lost count of the times we’ve had to lose one of the magic trio – but a stag do is no place for sacrifice. This full-on multi-activity will turn you into the ultimate troop of countrified gentleman. A top instructor will take you through all of the nitty gritty before you begin and you shall then embark upon four glorious hours of shooting stuff and flying around the countryside on wheels. You’ll be air rifle shooting and perfecting your target practice, clay pigeon shooting like tweed-sporting aristocrats and zooming around on Segways. This venue is located just outside of Edinburgh, but we can arrange return transfers for you lot too.

  • Safety instruction and equipment including wetsuits
  • 3 hours
  • 1 hour and 20 minutes from Edinburgh
  • Available between April and end of October
  • Add transfers for a supplement
  • Minimum 4

Many moons ago, a stag weekend involved a gentle outing (and maybe a few japes) to the local to celebrate your fellow chum asking his beloved for her hand in marriage. However, fast forward to 2015, and if you aren’t taking part in some kind of hardcore activity with the ever present threat of falling into a furiously raging river, you just aren’t doing it right. So, we’re here to help. This activity is the sort of thing that separates the men from the boys. You will be walking across a slack line above the river, attempting to make it to the other side without getting wet (and losing face, obvs). You’ll have three hours to master the art of aqualining before heading back into the city centre and treating yourself to a well-earned pint.

Archery

Archery

Quick Overview
  • Safety instruction and equipment
  • Indoor venue
  • 1 hour
  • Bar & restaurant on site

  • Minimum 6

Unleash your inner Robin Hood like a hail of arrows on some poor, unsuspecting targets. This archery session is a great way to add the element of badassery to your stag do. Can you think of a single archer that wasn’t a total legend (sometimes literally)? No matter what your skill level, your instructor will show you the techniques that will have you slinging arrows around like a seasoned pro in no time. The centre itself is just outside of the city in the gorgeous Edinburgh landscape, so you can even get a good dose of bracing country air before you go smashing back Jagermeister in a basement club. You will have full equipment and safety training provided for you, so just turn up and they’ll do the rest.

Boy Band Masterclass

Boy Band Masterclass

Quick Overview
  • Professional instructor
  • Choreographed routine
  • 1.5 hours
  • Posed group photo
  • Bottle of bubbly for the best dancer
  • Minimum 10

We know that women love these bloomin’ popstar types, but since the 1990s passed, we’ve forgotten about the seductive powers of the boyband. Backstreet Boys, East 17, 5ive – girls went wild. The streets were flooded with the tears of teenage girls when Take That broke up in 1995 – this is powerful stuff. Forget all this lumbersexual malarkey of plaid shirts and hipster beards; bring back the mechanic look. Wear low slung denim and deep V-neck white T-shirts whilst dancing around a warehouse fixing car engines. To complete the retro throwback look, why not bring back the Vienetta too? Flex your engine oil covered biceps whilst demolishing a Vienetta, letting it melt down your chin and all over your baby oil-ed pecs. Chicks dig this stuff.

Bubble Football

Bubble Football

Quick Overview
  • Referee
  • Lightweight zorbs
  • Various games played
  • 1 hour
  • Group of 16 or more will play for 1.5 hours
  • Add a sexy referee for a supplement
  • Minimum 10

Yup, there are all the usual ways to celebrate your upcoming nuptials with the boys, but, by far, we find the best thing to do is to strap yourself into a huge bubble and attempt to play football by running full tilt into your mates, only to go bouncing off into the stratosphere (well, you won’t go that far, at least we hope you don’t - Health and Safety would have a field day). All of the necessary equipment will be provided (don’t go packing your own zorbs, lads) and, although you are meant to be playing footy, the game gets quickly forgotten after you realise how hilarious it is running around in a bubble and bouncing off each other.

Canyoning

Canyoning is one of the most thrilling adventure sports and is fast growing in popularity in the UK. It’s absolutely perfect for a stag do as it combines fun, daring and adrenaline, not to mention the odd invigorating plunge into some very refreshing water. If you have an adventurous side and are looking to push your stag do to the limits, then this is definitely the activity for you and, unlike something like karting, will actually help cure a hangover and there’s less risk of bursting into tears and being sick in your helmet. The centre will provide all of the equipment that you need and, not to worry, the instructors are highly qualified and experienced to make sure you have the most thrilling stag do possible.

In this tasting session, you will have the opportunity to taste a number of different sparkling wines and learn how to appreciate the subtle differences between them. This means that you can look uber-impressive at the next fancy do you go to (because, as a refined gent, you get invited to them all the time) by identifying the welcome bubbly. • Safety instruction and equipment
  • 1 hour
  • 25 shots
  • 30 minutes drive from Edinburgh
  • Add transfers for a supplement
  • Minimum 2

I say, old chap, clay pigeon shooting is ruddy good fun. And what we love most about it, is that you don’t need to mess around with all of the feather plucking malarkey of real pigeons – we don’t have time for that. We have tweed to purchase, wellingtons to don, pipes to smoke. Pah! Feathers indeed. So yeah, this shooting range is located just 30 minutes’ from the city centre. Your guide will give you a safety briefing and a demonstration of how to operate your weapon before clays are released to simulate real prey. Take a few practice shots, then stage a bit of casual competition between the boys. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a total novice or an expert, by the end of it you’ll be a seasoned pro.

  • 4 hours
  • Bar & restaurant on site
  • 45 minutes from Edinburgh

There are different measures of what maketh the man in 2015. Is it being a refined, tweed-sporting, countrified gentleman; a man who deems shooting to be a ‘jolly good sport’ and who drinks brandy from a dead posh glass in an armchair and that? Or is it being a rough and rugged kilt-wearing chap, who can lift twice his bodyweight and can hold his whisky? It’s a good question, but a difficult one – and one that you don’t have to answer, for we have lovingly combined the two. You’ll spend four glorious hours blasting clay pigeons out of the sky and tossing cabers and playing tug o’ war and other macho games like a bunch of animals. It’s time to man up.

You look at the array of bottles and tools in front of you and freeze, you don’t know how to make a Mojito. They briefly stare at you with hope in their eyes, but the moment is gone. They move on and you are left limply grasping a bunch of mint. Thankfully, this scenario is entirely avoidable with the help of a fantastic cocktail class. A bar tender will take you through the basics of some of your favourite cocktails, showing you how to mix it all together. You can then sit down to a delightful two course meal and congratulate yourselves on becoming masters of mixology.

The answer is, of course, (a). Well done. Fortunately, here we have the opportunity for you and the lads to take a cocktail making masterclass and begin the journey to becoming booze-based magicians. The professional bartender will teach you everything you need to know about creating the prefect cocktail and then it’s your turn to have a go. Afterwards, you and the boys can sit down and contemplate just how much more awesome you have all become. Barry doesn’t stand a chance.

Dodgeball

Dodgeball

Quick Overview
  • Host/Referee
  • Explanation of all rules
  • 2 hours
  • Variation of dodgeball games

  • Minimum 10

As ice breakers go, chucking a ball as hard as you can at the stag’s-cousin’s-best-mate is up there with the best of them. It doesn’t matter how little you know each other (although, after that 3am karaoke sesh where you and the bloke performed All By Myself to a rapturous crowd, you’re now like brothers), a game of dodgeball is guaranteed to unite the troops. If you don’t know a lot about the rules (pretty simple – lob a ball as hard as you can at each other), you’ll get a brief introduction before you wage war on the opposing team. Fancy dress is actively encouraged, so we reckon you should go all the way and don your shortest shorts, razor back vests and sport a handlebar moustache. You’ll look well fit.

However, the morning after a night on the tiles smashing sambuca shots and dancing in the streets until 5am, is probably not one of those times. What you need is a classy, gentleman’s sport – a very civilised round of golf. You don’t need to be a pro to enjoy the benefits of this day out, as we’ll let you into a little secret – most of golfing is just wandering about with your mates. This place is only five miles outside of the city centre, so it’s ideally located if you’re staying right in the fine city of Edinburgh. Get some fresh air and embrace the golf course.

Sometimes we feel it’s just a bit bloody undignified being a modern man; working in an office, wearing a suit, knowing the difference between a Pinot Grigio and a Sauvignon Blanc. How are we supposed to compare to a Greek Adonis or a Roman warrior? Let’s get our macho on with this stage fighting workshop and regain some traditional masculinity – nothing looks cooler than a good old-fashioned sword fight. You’ll learn some choreographed fights from blockbuster films, which you will be able to whip out when you want to impress a beautiful woman. Either that, or if you’re having a domestic you’ll be able to win with a reenactment using the kitchen broom. Sword Fighting 1 - Talking About Feelings 0.

But, this is where we come in. Don’t worry, boys, you don’t have to gain 20 stone and move to Japan for this activity. Thanks to the wonders of the 21st century, the Sumo Simulation Suit has been created (okay, yes, it’s just a fat suit). The big-ass sumo suits make every move a challenge, so, if you actually manage to shove each other out of a ring, it’ll be a triumph and, thus, you deserve to have your drinks bought all night.
