The multicultural, historic city of York is an excellent choice for a hen who wants to do something a little bit different on her weekend. The popular northern city offers a cultured hen the chance to see some beautiful architecture, learn some history and get drunk all in one hilarious, action-packed weekend. Put simply, York activities tick all the boxes. No matter whether you want to have a delicious, quintessentially English afternoon tea in Bettys, the iconic York tea shop, or just hit the quaint streets for a bar crawl you’ll never forget – we have plenty of hen party activity ideas to suit you group. Your mum and Mother-in-Law will love the quaint charm of the ancient Roman, walled city, and you and your mates will be swept up in a cocktail-heavy haze around the city’s main nightlife strips (you’ll be surprised how many there actually are), meaning everyone will get something different and enjoyable out of the weekend. Perfect.
Bettys afternoon teaWe have almost 150 fantastic hen party activities to choose from in York. Obviously, we think they’re all excellent, as we’ve painstakingly hand-selected them after analysing customer feedback and testing them out ourselves (check out the last time we had a messy trip to York here), but some of our activities shine through as our most popular, year in, year out. Amongst our most popular is, of course, the Old School Sports Day; turning back the clock to year four P.E. (minus those smelly sandshoes from lost property), you’ll be split into ‘houses’ and compete in classic games for prizes. There’s even a Mr and Mrs quiz, and prizes for the winning teams and forfeits for the losers – sure to get all of the girls talking and break the ice from the off.
Ready, set, bake...Unsurprisingly, our activities which are centred around York’s nightlife are extremely popular. York’s Revolution is basically a hen party haven, with cocktail workshops and delicious food on offer through the day and evenings – so whether it’s nibbles or a two course meal with all the trimmings you’re after, why not wash it down with some of those renowned Revs cocktails? Revolution gets pretty busy, especially on Saturday nights, so make sure you get your LNOF sales team member to whack you group down on the guestlist, to save you wasting valuable drinking time in queues.
As for popular, hen-friendly clubs in York, you can’t look any past Pop World and Flares for your cheesy fix of guilty pleasures. Playing classic pop tunes from the ‘80s, ‘90s and ‘00s, these two are the perfect place to have a guilt-free dance amidst the bright lights and other celebrating groups.
If you’re after something to do throughout the day, nude life drawing class is very popular amongst our York hen groups. Nothing sobers you up quite like having to accurately draw a flaccid penis, that’s for sure. Just try not to giggle as his dressing gown comes off… Bubble mayhen is sure to get all the girls laughing their heads off, as you’re strapped into an inflated zorb and attempt to play games whilst smashing each other into orbit. You could always channel your inner Olivia Newton Johns and enjoy a Grease Pink Ladies dance class, taking part in your own professionally choreographed routine, which you can always bring out after a few drinks later on that night. Tell me more, tell me more.
