When you think of Bournemouth, you probably picture its iconic pier. The pier boasts tourist attractions such as the Rock Reef climbing wall and the brilliant dual zipline that gives you the chance to zip 250m over the sea and land on the beach. There are also quite a few places to eat and drink on the pier including a cocktail bar and a bar and grill restaurant. Of course, there’s also an amusement arcade with all your seaside classics on offer from basketball to claw machines to penny falls, plus a selection of rides that can be found at the end of the pier.

There’s only one sure-fire way to cure a hangover and it’s looking at cute fish amirite? So, there’s aquariums, and then there’s this… This large Oceanarium is home to all sorts of exciting fish. From your common clownfish (AKA Nemo) and Regal tang (AKA Dory) to Chinese Water Dragon to super cool Moon Jellyfish to massive sharks. There’s also loads of cool animals such as otters, crocodiles, and penguins! There’s a brilliant water tunnel that you can walk through where you can enjoy being up close with these awesome sea creatures. There’s also chances to watching various animals being fed.

The Russell Cotes Art Gallery & Museum is quite the sight to behold. Set within beautiful gardens that face out onto the sea and housed within an interesting looking Victorian building, this is a cool place to visit. The inside of this Victorian gem is just as impressive as the outside, with a grand hall, morning room, drawing room, boudoir, dining room and conservatory to explore amongst other things. Founded by Sir Merton and Lady Russell-Cotes, this house is the residence of a Victorian private collector with lots of art for you to take a look at.
Alum Chine Beach
Situated to the west of the town centre, away from the tourist-heavy pier area, you’ll find Alum Chine Beach. This is one of the most popular beaches in the area. This award-winning beach is a brilliant place to spend some of your stag do, especially if you’re visiting in the hot summer months. It’s known for being very clean and boasts a beautiful tropical garden as well as some pubs and ice cream kiosks, so there are plenty of ways to cool down. It’s worth visiting in the evening too to catch that gorgeous sunset.

Upside Down House does exactly what it says on the tin…it’s a house…. that’s upside down. Here you will get to live out a childhood dream of walking on the ceiling, well the ceiling is the floor, and the floor is the ceiling and it’s all very confusing but also very fun. This gravity defying tourist attraction will give your stag group some excellent photo opportunities as you can look like you’re dangling from the ceiling or doing a handstand. If your group like things that are a bit quirky, get yourself down to this ‘flipping’ brilliant house (because the house is flipped upside down, get it?).

These Grade II Listed Gardens, that stretch for approx 3km, running from the pier to the edge of Poole, are the perfect place for a little hungover stroll. Bursting with impressive floral displays and water features, this is a beautiful place to check out. There are activities to do here too such as playing mini golf, visiting the aviary, and listening to musicians playing from the bandstand. If it’s summer, there might well be an art exhibition on. Here you can sit by the water with a coffee (or some street food) as you lazily watch the world go by.

Stop thinking about museums where you just look at dusty relics and go ‘hm that’s quite interesting’, this fantastic museum will have you jumping into the cockpits of a wide range of aircrafts such as Boeing 737-229, BAC One Eleven and BAe 125. This will let you imagine what being a pilot is like as you enjoy a cock-pit view and examine the controls. You can try out a flight simulator that will have you seeing what it’s like to fly a Cessna 172 aircraft. Check out the model plane exhibition for loads of classic planes in miniature. Time will fly when you’re having THIS much fun!

With a huge capacity of 1,458, this massive theatre brings you all of the biggest and best shows. As well as many hit shows, there are loads of big-name comedians that are going to perform or have performed here such as Sarah Millican, Al Murray and Ed Byrne. There are also a ton of big-name musicians that perform here such as Alfie Boe. You get a lot of tribute bands playing here too. It might be worth having a look to see what’s on when you visit to see if anything takes your fancy.

This Grade II listed music venue and clubbing institution holds up to 1,800 people at any one time. As such it’s a very popular venue for touring bands, meaning you get big names visiting such as James, The Darkness and Gary Numan. In the past it has provided a stage for music legends such as Pink Floyd, Status Quo and even David Bowie. There are loads of tribute bands that regularly play the 02 today like The Smyths and UK Foo Fighters. The 02 is a cracking night out if you’re into your live music, so have a gander what’s on when you’re here.

This shopping arcade, that’s located between Old Christchurch Road and Westover Road, is well worth poking your head into whilst exploring Bournemouth. This is handy if you’re coming from Scotland as it will take approx one hour twenty minutes compared to seven hours twenty minutes if you come by train. If you’re coming from Ireland, it’s best to fly to London then catch the train down to Bournemouth.

Bournemouth airport is about five miles outside of the town centre. You can travel to Bournemouth via bus or taxi.

Being a town, Bournemouth is very walkable with Old Christchurch Road being approx 0.7 miles from the seafront, but there are bus services if you’re not in the mood for stretching your legs.
We are down south, so it is a bit more pricey than northern cities like Liverpool and Newcastle, but hey at least it’s a bit cheaper than London.
If you’re staying in the UK for your last night of freedom, then Bournemouth is one of the best places to go weather-wise, known for boasting long sunny days in the summer.
